How to Prepare Your Small Business for Black Friday and Cyber Monday

Black Friday and Cyber Monday are the biggest sale days of the year. Retailers start preparing their stores and websites well in advance, by getting the word out and preparing for the increased traffic. It can be overwhelming for a small business to get prepared for the chaos of these sales, so here are some tips to help you out.

Start Early

Start promoting your sales as early as possible. The amount of sales going on is going to be overwhelming to both you and your customers, make sure you don’t get lost in the shuffle of the day.

Promote Online

Use your social media websites, such as Facebook and Twitter, along with your website, to post about the sale well in advance. In addition, see if there are local online publications and blogs that will post about it for you.

Promote Offline

Use promotional products to make sure all of your customers and the community knows about your sale. Promote the sale with signs (including banners, lawn signs, and window decals), flyers, business cards with coupons, or new uniforms with the dates of your big sales.

Reward Employees

Black Friday is going to be a stressful day for your employees. Make it fun for them by giving them a new uniform t-shirt or polo or giving them something fun to do like hand out giveaways to your customers (such as pens or stickers).

Be Strategic with Appointments

If your business takes appointments or reservations, try to avoid an overwhelming rush by making two different sales: one for appointments booked ahead of time for Black Friday, and another one for appointments booked on Black Friday for a later date.
